Earthquake proofing: fortifying structures for stability

In New Zealand, earthquakes are a daily occurrence, with over 14,000 happening across the country yearly. While around 200 of these are typically felt, the majority go unnoticed due to their small magnitude. However, buildings older than 45 years pose a significant risk during earthquakes. Many of these older structures lack adequate foundation and structural strength, making them susceptible to severe damage or collapse in seismic events.
